My Coaching Methodology

A Unique Blend of Coaching Theory & Perinatal Practice

The overarching goal of Parental Leave Coaching is a successful transition where the parent employee is engaged, confident, and given support to thrive at work and home. My holistic coaching model utilizes a tried and true methodology that is built upon Transition Theory, Adult Learning Theory, and Executive Coaching.

While the employee is on leave, I am able to utilize my extensive background in perinatal and postpartum work to provide information and support for the physical and emotional changes the family is experiencing as well as knowledge about newborn care, feeding, and typical development.

The journey to parenthood and working parenthood is not a one-size-fits-all. With compassion, pragmatism, and creativity, I work with companies and parents to find the path that works best for everyone one involved.

Coach/Parent/Company Relationship

Parental Leave Coaching works best when there is active engagement with the company, the manager, and the parent.

During our first interactions, we will talk about the needs of the organization, what your policies and practices are, and any questions or concerns that you'd like to address. This open dialogue will continue throughout the engagement.

Most coaching engagements take place over the course of 6-12 months: initiating ~3 months before leave beings and wrapping up ~2 months after return. This can be tailored to best suit your situation.

Let's have a conversation! I can tell you more about Parental Leave Coaching. You can tell me about the needs of your organization. If there seems to be a good fit, we'll design a program specifically for you.

(And if it is not a good fit, I will share referrals or recommendations to help you find what you are looking for. We all have to work together to support parent-friendly practices!)
